Origin Construction breaks ground on Miami Beach mixed-use project

Origin Construction says it has started work on a mixed-use project in Miami Beach.

A ceremonial ground breaking on Nov. 4 marked the beginning of work on Deco Capital Group’s Eighteen Sunset at 1769 Purdy Ave. The structure will feature street-level retail and restaurant space, two floors offices offices, and what the developer describes as “an exclusive top-floor home in the sky with a private rooftop deck.”

Work on the LEED Gold project is expected to be completed by Spring, 2023. The project is Origin’s ground-up development in Sunset Harbor. The building’s value was not disclosed.

“As Miami Beach experiences an influx of capital and investment from domestic and international sources, we are thrilled to begin construction of Eighteen Sunset,” Deco Capital Group founder Bradley Colmer said in a Nov. 10 statement. “This development will meet demand for office, retail and residential space in one of South Florida’s most dynamic and walkable neighborhoods.

“Eighteen Sunset will be the perfect complement to Sunset Harbour’s sought after commercial and residential assets, and we’ve assembled a first-rate design and construction team to see the development through,” Colmer said.

“Eighteen Sunset combines two of Origin Construction’s core capabilities on a larger scale with office and retail,” said Origin co-founder John Wood. “This is a special opportunity for ORIGIN to further solidify its presence in the market and deliver a unique mixed-use space for best-in-class office and retail tenants.”
